History Bloomington had it's first radio station broadcasting from Indiana University at that time, but later went off the air in 1951, which WFIU on the FM side would had purchased an AM station to separate the programming like today's WOSU-AM and WOSU-FM from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
