WRVC was the primary AM talk station in the market for many years, until it lost Rush Limbaugh and Cincinnati Reds rights to rival station WVHU-AM, whereupon it joined the liberal Air America network. Following a disastrous decline to a 0.6 local rating, the station, in September 2006 dropped its Air America content to a mid-daytime only, expanding its coverage of Marshall University sports and carrying ESPN Radio at night. In November of the same year, following Air America's bankruptcy it dropped the network totally, moving it to sister station WCMI-AM.
