WalMex in Teotihuacán

In 2004, Walmex faced opposition by local and environmental groups opposed to the installation of a WalMex-owned Bodega Aurrera store located near the archeological site of Teotihuacán. In spite of negative sentiments by these groups and the media, the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) dismissed concerns that construction of the store would destroy archeological treasures.
