Warren M. Anderson is a former Temporpory President and Majority Leader of the New York State Senate. He is a resident of Binghamton, New York. The New York State Senate is one of two houses in the New York State Legislature and has members each elected to two-year terms. ... Anderson, A Republican, served as the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee from 1966 to 1973. In this capacity he was the unofficial deputy to then Majority Leader Earl Brydges. After Brydges retired, Anderson succeeded him as majority leader. He served the Senate's top post until 1989, when he retired into private life in Binghamton.


In his role as Temporary President of the Senate, Anderson twice served as the state's acting lieutenant governor. The first was from December 1973 to January 1975 after the resignation of Gov. Nelson Rockefeller elevated Lt. Gov. Malcolm Wilson to the governorship. The second was from February 1985 to January 1987 after Lt. Gov. Alfred Delbello resigned. New York does not have a law permitting the appointment of a replacement lieutenant governor. The Lieutenant Governor of New York is the second highest ranking official in state government. ...
