George Washington Preparatory High School is a secondary school that is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Washington has been notorious for its gang violence which is largley in part to its location that is in close in proximity to various rival gangs. It was the location for a 1987TV movie entitled Hard Lessons depicting Denzel Washington as the new principle set on cleaning the high school and ridding it of gang violence, drugs and restoring educational values to the school.
