Wayland is a city located in Henry County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 945.

Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 945 people, 373 households, and 264 families residing in the city. The population density is 424.3/km² (1,097.0/mi²). There are 386 housing units at an average density of 173.3/km² (448.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.31% White, 0.00% African American, 0.74% Native American, 0.74% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.11% from two or more races. 0.11% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 373 households out of which 29.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.1% are married couples living together, 8.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.0% are non-families. 25.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.88.
