In this type of race a horse will carry a different weight depending on its age and sex. This should allow the best horse to win, as if a five and a three year old were to race on level weights the five year old would have a large advantage, as horses do not reach their fastest until they are around five. This is shown at the famous 1844 Derby, which was won by Maccabeus, who was found to be a four year old. Epsom Derby, Théodore Géricault, 1821. ...

The exact weights depend on the distance of race in question (to the nearest furlong or metric equivalent), the time of year (as the age difference will have most impact early in the year) and the sex of the animal.

By contrast in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes which is earlier in the season, a horse that is four or over carries a weight of 12 pounds more than a three year old of the same sex. Use this calculator to determine whether a child is at a healthy weight for his/her height, age and gender.
This is a healthy weight for her age and her parents should expect future weight gains to keep her BMI-for-age "tracking" along the 77th percentile as she gets older.
However, a BMI-for-age at the 77th percentile could be a 'red flag' for poor diet and/or physical activity habits if it represents an upward drifting of her BMI-for-age percentile, perhaps from the 66th percentile at age 6 to the 70th at age 7 and the 77th at age 8.
