Wenshan District (Chinese: 文山區, Wade-Giles: Wen-shan, Tongyong Pinyin: Wunshan) is one of the twelve districts of Taipei City. The district was formed in 1990 by combining Jingmei and Muzha. Wenshan referred to the region south of Taipei Basin (including Sindian and Pinglin) in the past. Notable attractions in this district include the Taipei Zoo, Maokong (貓空), Jingmei Night Market, Xianji Rock (仙跡岩). The Examination Yuan and the National Chengchi University are also in the district. Wenshan District (Chinese: 文山區; Hanyu Pinyin: Wenshan Qu; Wade-Giles: Wen-shan Chü) is the southernmost of the twelve districts of Taipei City.
Though Wenshan is in Taipei city, it seems rather remote at first sight; surrounded by mountains, it is a good place to escape the busy life from the center of Taipei.
The Taipei Zoo is a paradise for little kids, and since the adorable penguins and koalas arrived, it has been jammed by adults and children alike, especially during summer vacation.
