The West and East Forks finally combine to form the boundary between three counties as the White River flows another fifty miles to feed the Wabash.
Access to the river for take-out is at Henderson Ford Bridge 4 1/2 miles north of Martinsville and 5 miles south of Waverly on State Road 37, then 0.7 miles west and north on Henderson Ford Road (County Road 390 E).

The principal tributaries of the Tygart River are Middle Fork River with a drainage area of 152 square miles, Buckhannon River, with 304 square miles, and West Fork River, with 876 square miles; the first two join the river 52 and 48 miles, respectively, from the mount, and the West Fork at the mouth.
