West Franklin Township is a township located in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,935.

Geography

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 1,935 people, 748 households, and 575 families residing in the township. The population density is 28.4/km² (73.6/mi²). There are 804 housing units at an average density of 11.8/km² (30.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.28% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.36% from other races, and 0.21% from two or more races. 0.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 748 households out of which 32.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.6% are married couples living together, 7.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% are non-families. 19.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.59 and the average family size is 2.96.

In the township the population is spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.5 males.
