West Lebanon Township is a township located in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 836.


Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 1.1 km˛ (0.4 mi˛). 1.0 km˛ (0.4 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 836 people, 333 households, and 234 families residing in the township. The population density is 807.0/km˛ (2,079.5/mi˛). There are 346 housing units at an average density of 334.0/km˛ (860.7/mi˛). The racial makeup of the township is 96.65% White, 1.20% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.60% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. 2.63% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 333 households out of which 30.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.6% are married couples living together, 9.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% are non-families. 25.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 3.01.


In the township the population is spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 31.8% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 104.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.3 males.


The median income for a household in the township is $37,143, and the median income for a family is $41,250. Males have a median income of $31,591 versus $23,594 for females. The per capita income for the township is $18,709. 8.4% of the population and 8.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 15.5% of those under the age of 18 and 7.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
