West Vancouver is an affluent district municipality, part of the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, located north of the City of Vancouver on Burrard Inlet and Howe Sound. It is located on the North Shore and is adjoined with the District of North Vancouver. Population (2001 census) 41,421. It takes between 10 (closest area) and 50 minutes to get to downtown Vancouver by bus, which run very frequently. West Vancouver is also home to some very large and expensive properties and houses. Recently one sold for about 20 million dollars Canadian. West Vancouver's average house sells for over 1 million (cnd. West Van is also well known for its parks like Cypress Mountain provincial park which offers some amazing veiws of Howe Sound and the GVRD. Also, you can get to Horseshoe Bay and take a ferry from there to Nanaimo, Bowen Island and the Sunshine Coast.
