WestCat is a public transportation service in western Contra Costa County (outside Oakland, CA). This service provides local service in the towns, communities, and areas of: Hercules, CA Pinole, CA Hilltop area (Richmond, CA) Rodeo, CA Crockett, CA. It also has express lines connecting the aforementioned places and Martinez, CA with The El Cerrito del Norte BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit District) Station in El Cerrito, CA. The Routes are (Local) 12, 13, 14, 14/15, 15, 16, 16/17, 17, 18, 18/19, 19. Also (Express) J, JX, JL, JR, JPX, JPX/30Z, and 30Z.
WestCat is a non-profit public transportation authority extablished in 1977 and are responsible for providing public transit service within the cities of Pinole and Hercules and the unicorporated communities of Crockett, Rodeo, Port Costa, Tara Hills and Montalvin Manor in Western Contra Costa County with regional service to Martinez.
WestCAT Systemwide ridership for the 2001/02 fiscal year was 1,422,493 passengers.
WestCAT Express Service operate 7 days a week, 365 days a year and is designed to provide convenient timed connections to the BART rail system.
Another upgrade in the WestCAT fleet is the installation of a video monitoring system that is designed to automatically take video recordings of the inside of the bus and the exterior surroundings when activated.
All WestCAT operators are required to attend monthly safety meetings, as well as refresher courses on all aspects of vehicle operation and emergency procedures.
