Weston Favell is also the name of a large shopping centre next to the village of Weston Favell. The shopping centre was built during the early 1970's and opened for trade on 29th October 1974; surprisingly it features some interesting achitectural features. The main atrium of the building is coved by a large vaulted ceiling, reminiscent of Gothic Cathedrals, this ceiling is a very bold feature. Constructed with reinforced concrete it is almost like a cathedral to comsumerism. A new annex built in the new millennium also features interesting architecture, using simple bold lines, it is a very sympathetic addition. The centre houses many shops and is a major local trading centre.
