Whispy Woods is a fictional character seen in most Kirby video games, generally as a boss, specifically the first one in almost every Kirby game. Whispy is a large tree whose most common attack is dropping apples from his branches, which damage Kirby on impact. In the side-scrolling Kirby games, the apples that fall from Whispy's branches (which usually cover the entire top of the area) can be sucked up and launched back by Kirby. The tree's most common vulnerability is his face, which must be hit for him to take damage. Whispy's secondary attacks include shooting puffs of air out of his mouth and dropping spiked balls (known as Gordos in most Kirby games) out of his branches instead of apples. Neither of these attacks can be sucked up by Kirby. Image File history File links Kirbys_Dream_Land_Whispy. ...

Appearances in Kirby games
- In Kirby's Dream Land, the first boss of the game is Whispy, who is fought at the end of Green Greens, and he is also later fought near the end of the game, along with all the other three bosses before King Dedede.
- In Kirby's Adventure, the boss of the first world, Vegetable Valley, is Whispy.
- Both Kirby's Dream Land 2 and 3 feature Whispy as early bosses. Interestingly, Whispy Woods "evolved" from his first appearance. In KDL2, his roots can pop out from underground and hurt Kirby. In KDL3 however, Whispy's moving roots will kick Kirby if he gets too close. After receiving enough damage, his face becomes evil, and since he walks, he becomes a scrolling boss.
- In Kirby Super Star, one of the main games, entitled Spring Breeze, is a remake of Kirby's Dream Land. Some of the other games in Super Star feature Whispy Woods as a boss as well. Twin Woods is a variation of the boss, and are Whispy's "brothers" of sorts.
- The first world in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Pop Star, has Whispy as a boss. Whispy is surrounded by a round dirt path which is where Kirby can walk on (the game is 3D, although it's still side scrolling; the game camera keeps Kirby in the center of the screen as he moves). The tree will produce apples, as well as small walking trees that try to damage Kirby. Kirby can suck up the apples, and then shoot them at the spiked roots which subsequently appear in Kirby's path. The objective is to destroy all the roots that appear.
- Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land is a remake of Kirby's Adventure.
- Kirby and the Amazing Mirror features a variation of Whispy. It's essentially a large stone pillar with a face called King Golem. The King pounds his rock fists to make rocks that Kirby can use as projectiles fall from the top of the screen. He will also spit out his own rocks, as well as enemies called Golems.
- Whispy is one of three bosses in Kirby's Pinball Land, and also an owner of one of the game's three pinball tables. To defeat Whispy, Kirby must launch himself into the tree's nose several times. Whispy will drop spiked balls that freeze the pinball flippers (making them unmovable) temporarily.
- In Kirby Air Ride, Whispy can be seen in the city in the mode City Trial; however he is mainly just scenery, sitting among the trees in the forest section of the city. Constantly hitting him will cause him to cry.
- Whispy will return as a boss in the upcoming Kirby GCN game, most likely as the first boss of the game.
- If you look closely while at both the title screen and the main menu for Kirby: Squeak Squad, you may notice that Kirby is standing next to Whispy, while in the main menu the Squeaks are moving around that same area that the title screen took place at as is Kirby.
