As of the census2 of 2000, there are 67,165 people, 25,148 households, and 18,408 families residing in the county. The population density is 25/km˛ (65/mi˛). There are 27,613 housing units at an average density of 10/km˛ (27/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 93.52% White, 3.56% Black or African American, 0.43% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.82% from other races, and 1.31% from two or more races. 1.88% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 25,148 households out of which 33.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.90% are married couples living together, 9.50% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.80% are non-families. 23.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 2.98.
In the county the population is spread out with 24.40% under the age of 18, 12.80% from 18 to 24, 27.20% from 25 to 44, 21.90% from 45 to 64, and 13.80% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 95.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.90 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $32,203, and the median income for a family is $38,782. Males have a median income of $29,884 versus $20,323 for females. The per capita income for the county is $15,890. 14.00% of the population and 10.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 18.10% of those under the age of 18 and 14.30% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

WhiteCounty was organized in accordance with the provisions of an act of the legislature of Arkansas Territory, approved October 23, 1835.
This gentleman is one of the pioneer settlers of Searcy, Ark., and was born in Wayne County, Tenn., in December, 1823, being one of eleven children, the result of the union of Jesse and Jemimah (Warthen) Cypert, the father a native of North Carolina, born 1781, and the mother of Pennsylvania, born 1783.
