White pride is a slogan used primarily in the United States (though its usage has spread internationally) to promote the glorification of the heritage of persons of "White-European" racial identity[1]—though generally to the exclusion of homosexuals and Jews, as well as certain other individuals and groups. The term is highly controversial, as many believe it implies racism;[2] indeed, it appears in the artwork and literature of a number of white supremacist organizations.[3] Image File history File links White_Proud_White_Aryan_Resistance_Member. ...

White supremacy is the variety of white nationalism that believes the white race should rule over other races. ...
Advocates of white pride argue that white people should be recognized as a cohesive and legitimate cultural group, with the right to advance policies of interest to themselves as such. They often claim that there exists a cultural double standard[4] in which only certain ethnicities are permitted to openly have pride in their heritage, and that white pride is not inherently racist, being roughly analogous to black pride or gay pride, for example.[5] According to a University of Minnesota study, 77% of white Americans believe "their race has a distinct culture that should be preserved." [6] A double standard, according to the World Book Dictionary, is a standard applied more leniently to one group than to another. ...

However, opponents of white pride argue that movements like black pride and gay pride represent affirmations of self-worth and solidarity on the part of oppressed minorities — whereas "white pride" represents an attempt to reinforce the very hierarchies that gave rise to that oppression. Several anti-racist organizations have argued that ideas like white pride and "white nationalism" exist merely to provide a sanitized public face for white supremacism.[7] This article or section does not cite its references or sources. ...

Usage
The phrase "white pride" has been used on promotional materials by white supremacist organizations for some time. Notably, the slogan "White Pride, World Wide" appears in the logo for Stormfront, an organization whose membership consists mostly of white supremacists, Neo-Nazis, white nationalists, and white separatists. Stormfront is owned and operated by Don Black, who was formerly a Grand Wizard (national leader) of the Ku Klux Klan.[8] White pride has also been associated with David Lane's "14 words", a shibboleth used as a greeting by White Nationalists and white supremacists. The 14 words are: "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White children."[9] The phrase was taken from Lane's work, "The White Genocide Manifesto". Organizations advocating white pride have been known to exclude certain white individuals who sympathize with, fraternize with, or intermarry with non-whites;[10] their term for these individuals is "race traitor".[11] WPWW is an acronym used in the White Nationalist movement that stands for White Pride World Wide. ...

Organizations advocating white pride tend to be collectively referred to as the "white pride movement". The phrase "White pride" often appears in the lyrics of white power and neo-Nazi rock bands. An example is Skrewdriver's version of Elvis Presley's "In the Ghetto," in which the lyrics have been altered considerably from Presley's original.[citation needed] In the early 1980s, there was an American Nazi punk/hardcore punk band called White Pride. "White minorities" White pride is often tied to the notion that white people can represent, or will someday represent, a minority group. Advocates of this notion point out that non-Hispanic whites now comprise less than half the population of California and Texas,[12] [13] and that white people are expected to become a numerical minority in Great Britain by 2100.[14] (This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as the "minority-majority effect".) It should be noted, though, that simple numerical minority is not how most sociologists or economists define a minority group. To avoid confusion, some writers prefer the terms "subordinate group" and "dominant group" rather than "minority" and "majority".[15] In this equation, sociologists argue, white males remain the "dominant" group, even if they come to represent a numerical minority.[16] Sociology is the study of the social lives of humans, groups and societies. ...
