Lake Simcoe is part of the navigable Trent-Severn Waterway connecting Lake Huron's Georgian Bay to the northwest with upper Lake Ontario at the Bay of Quinte to the southeast.
The lake whitefish is occasionally referred to as "humpback" because the head is small in relation to the length of the body, and older specimens may develop a hump behind the head.
Size and age: The lake whitefish is commonly found at 18 inches in length and a weight of 2 to 4 pounds.
