There were 4,340 housing units at an average density of 239.7/km² (621.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.25% White, 2.34% African American, 0.27% Native American, 1.47% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 2.48% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.50% of the population. Culture

Some of the annual events in Whitewater include Maxwell Street Day in July, a Business Expo in October, and the Whitewater Winterfest Festival and Parade in December. Whitewater Winterfest is a city-wide annual festival that includes an outdoor light decorating contest, holiday arts and crafts for children, caroling and an evening parade. A few other popular events include the annual Doll Fair in April; Badger State Games in June, an annual opportunity for training and competition among Wisconsin's recreational athletes; and the 4th of July Celebration and Parade. The 4th of July events include a parade, musical entertainment, carnival and marching band competition.
