WHO has a website which focuses exclusively on celebrity news and hosts a blog and WHO Celebrity Index- the definitive celebrity-ranking classification in Australia. WHO works closely with its PEOPLE. counterpart to provide breaking celebrity news that is fact checked before publication, and similarly produces annual special issues including Most Beautiful People, Best & Worst Dressed and Sexiest People. In addition to publishing WHO magazine, Time Inc. South Pacific publishes TIME, IN STYLE, Bride to Be, English Woman's Weekly, Practical Parenting, WALLPAPER* and Puzzler magazines.
History
Time Inc. South Pacific launched WHO into the highly competitive Australian weekly magazine market in March 1992 and was the first weekly magazine to concentrate purely on celebrity and entertainment news. It featured Candice Bergen as its first cover girl, and then starring in her hit sitcom Murphy Brown. Editorial within the magazine was all black and white but by 1994 colour had been introduced to the editorial pages and was by now throughout the magazine. In 1997 WHO celebrates a happy milestone with the 5th Birthday double issue, featuring Elle Macpherson and a giant, golden “5” on the cover, which was photographed in Los Angeles. In April of the same year, the magazine collects its second consecutive Australian Society of Magazine Editors’ (ASME) premier award, this time for Best Reporting on Port Arthur massacre. Macphersons last name is often printed as MacPherson,Elle Macpherson and sometimes as McPherson, but these appear to be incorrect. ...

In January 2001, WHO changes from a Monday on sale date to Friday to capitalise on pre-weekend sales. The magazine also rebadges its popular Picks & Pans review section Entertainment Weekly, after its revered US sister magazine, from which WHO regularly picks up features. In July, WHO wins the Magazine Publishers of Australia Award for General Excellence (General Interest/News Magazines). In 2003, the ever evolving and innovative magazine launches its new look with WHO magazine now bigger in size, on higher quality paper stock and with a brand new masthead. It is the most significant change since the magazine's inception. Today, WHO magazine continues to deliver on its promise of being the first for celebrity news in the Australian market.
