Wild Style was the first hip hop motion picture. Released independently in 1982 by First Run Features and later re-released for home video by Rhino Home Video, the movie featured Fab Five Freddy, Lee Quinones, the Rock Steady Crew, The Cold Crush Brothers, Patti Astor, Sandra Fabara and Grandmaster Flash. The Protagonist is the legendary New York graffiti artist "Lee" George Quinones as "Zoro". The film has received a large cult following over the years after its initial release. Highly regarded hip-hop albums such as Illmatic by Nas, Black Sunday by Cypress Hill and Check Your Head by Beastie Boys have featured samples from Wildstyle. Wild Style (1983) (503 words)
If you think you are a true Hip Hop fan and when I talk about Wild Style and you are asking me "What?", then something must be wrong...
Wild Style is the first and true Hip Hop documentary/film about a culture that remained one of the strongest of the past few decades.
Never has there been an artform of music that was just basically made of other music styles, but has managed to grow and evolve on its own.
Neither pedantic nor wild? | Style guide | Guardian Unlimited (402 words)
House style is the means by which a newspaper seeks to ensure that where there are permissible variants in spellings, the use of acronyms and so forth, a unified approach to these matters is adopted to help in disseminating a sense of rationality and authority in the use of language.
And dealing sympathetically with quirks of writing style certainly does not preclude tidying up cliche-ridden journalese, verbosity, the latest vogue words and phrases, the words and phrases that flatten out meaning, replace a range of better more finely tuned words and concepts, and anaesthetise writing.
The introduction to the Guardian stylebook of 1960, which itself was a revision to the initial guide published in 1928, was headed "Neither pedantic nor wild".
