Beckett is said to be in a relationship with Fall Out Boy bassist Peter Wentz. The pair hooked up during the Honda Civic Tour. Several e-mails, videos, and pictures of the two have been leaked onto the Internet. The two plan on concealing their relationship by staging media involved propaganda’s such as hookups (Pete's relationship with Ashley Simpson). According to an interview with Alternative Press, the past love affair with Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes lasted for 2 years. "Everything We Had" off The Academy Is...'s record Santi, was based on the relationship.

William plays the tambourine and guitar besides singing and drumming.
In 2006 Beckett and bandmate Mike Carden were featured in Fall Out Boy's music video, "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More 'Touch Me'", in which Beckett played an evil vampire, the leader of the Dandies.
Beckett's vocals have also been featured on Cute Is What We Aim For's "There's a Class for This", Fall Out Boy's "Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year", Gym Class Heroes' "7 Weeks", and Cobra Starship's "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)".
