Encyclopedia > William McMaster

William McMaster (1811-1887) was a wholesaler, Senator and banker in the 1800s. He served in the Canadian Senate from 1867-1887 as a Liberal and as a the founding president of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, now CIBC from 1867-1887. He also help found McMaster University in Toronto (later moved to Hamilton), Ontario.
