William Pritchard Weston (Born; London, England, 1804; Died St Kilda, Victoria, 21 February 1888) was the third Premier of Tasmania. Holding office on two different occasions. Weston was elected to parliament at the original opening, in 1856 in the electoral division of Ringwood (now defunct). He served for a short term as Premier from 25 April 1857 until 12 May 1857. He resigned his seat in the Tasmanian House of Assembly on 20 May 1857. William Basil Weston was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
On 3 March 1945 during the attack on Meiktila, Burma (now Myanmar), Lieutenant Weston was commanding a platoon which, together with the rest of the company, had to clear an area of the town of the enemy.
William Basil Weston's medal was donated to the Green Howards Museum in 2001 by his nephew, Basil Weston of Ulverston.
