FACTOID # 127: Costa Rica leads the world in per capita exports of bananas, cassava, melons, and pineapples to the United States. Unsuprisingly, they’re also first in pesticide use.

Wilson is a lunar crater that lies in the southern part of the Moon's near side, to the southwest of the large Clavius walled plain. It is nearly attached to the southeastern rim of the slightly larger Kircher crater. Almost due east lies the Klaproth walled plain. Selenographic coordinates are used to refer to locations on the surface of Earths moon. ... Diameter is an AAA (authentication, authorization and accounting) protocol for applications such as network access or IP mobility. ... The depth of any crater in a solid planet or moon - whether it is an impact crater, a volcanic crater, or a subsidence crater - may be measured from the local surface to the bottom of the crater, or from the rim of the crater to the bottom. ... Klaproth is an old lunar crater that lies in the rugged southern highlands of the Moons near side. ...

This crater has a heavily eroded outer rim that now forms an irregular rise about the relatively level interior floor. The flooded remains of a crater intrudes part way into the rim and inner wall along the south-southeastern section. Several other small craters lie along the eastern and northern rim. The narrow section of surface between Wilson and Kircher is irregular and contains a small, cup-shaped crater that joins both outer rims. The interior floor is marked by a number of tiny craterlets of various dimensions, and there is a small crater along the edge of the eastern inner wall.

Satellite craters

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Wilson crater.

Irene Antonenko, Ph.D. Thesis: Chapter 3 (10529 words)
This dark-haloed crater (#15 in Figure 8) is so prominent that its halo can clearly be seen in the 750 nm filter image of Figure 2a and is also identifiable in the color composite of Figure 2b as a distinct yellow halo surrounding the crater.
This dark-haloed crater, in the southwest quadrant of Schickard, displays a series of spectra that progress from basaltic to highland to basaltic (#12, 13, 14 respectively), beginning at the crater rim and moving closer to the bottom (Figure 6).
For small craters, the presence of basalt spectra on the crater slopes allows the crater's depth of excavation to be used as a maximum estimate for the depth to the top of the cryptomafic layer.
The Extinction of the Dinosaurs and the threat of Human Extinction (2488 words)
Like Birch, Wilson argues that the scale of the increasing impact of industrial civilization on the Earth and the rate of change that this impact is having on the global environment is way beyond the natural levels of evolution.
Wilson now asks the critical question: Does the drive to global environmental conquest, population growth, and human control over the environment demonstrate that "humanity is suicidal?" He argues that we aren't suicidal, we aren't doomed to destroy ourselves by destroying the ability of the global environment to support human life.
Wilson concludes that we have "perhaps 50 to 100 years" to stabilize the global environment and transform our values, our political and economic systems, and our development and use of science and technology.
