Wilson City is a village located in Mississippi County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 165.

Geography

Wilson City is located at 36°55'23" North, 89°13'22" West (36.923041, -89.222900)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²). 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 165 people, 70 households, and 38 families residing in the village. The population density is 796.3/km² (2,128.6/mi²). There are 84 housing units at an average density of 405.4/km² (1,083.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 3.64% White, 96.36% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 70 households out of which 24.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 18.6% are married couples living together, 25.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 44.3% are non-families. 34.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.36 and the average family size is 2.95.

In the village the population is spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 87.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 74.3 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $15,417, and the median income for a family is $23,750. Males have a median income of $35,417 versus $23,000 for females. The per capita income for the village is $11,068. 39.5% of the population and 37.5% of families are below the poverty line.
