White is the chairman of the Tunney Media Group, the parent company of the National Broadcasting System and thus the owner of the show-within-a-show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. His interest in the show is passing at best; indeed, at one point he voices a frustration with all content-producing companies, wishing that he could focus on distribution.
