Encyclopedia > Winchcombeshire

Winchcombeshire was a historic county in the South West of England in the 10th and 11th centuries.

Its county town was Winchcombe. It appears to have been amalgmated into Gloucestershire after Cnut conquered England in 1017, although some parts of the county appear to lie in what is now Worcestershire.
