Encyclopedia > Windsor Arena

Windsor Arena (nicknamed The Barn) is an indoor arena located in Windsor, Ontario. Originally named the Border Cities Arena, it hosted the Detroit Cougars for the 1926-1927 season, while the Olympia Stadium was under construction. The arena, built a year before for the local OHL team, was expanded from 6,000 to 9,000 for the Cougars.

The arena was later renamed the Windsor Arena. It is still standing - despite the occasional efforts of the city of Windsor to replace it with a more modern arena, mostly due to complaints about the seating and the tiny concourses - and hosts the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL.
