The Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival is an annual alternative theater festival held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2003 and 2004 it was 12 days long, which made it the longest fringe festival in North America. (The 2005 festival returned to the previous length of 11 days to avoid a conflict with another event.) Founded in 1988 by the Manitoba Theatre Centre, it is one of Winnipeg's most popular cultural events. The 2003 Fringe drew 142,900 attendees. The 2005 festival featured performers from France, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and South Africa as well as performers from across Canada and the US.
