The team was resurected in 1994 when the Rochester Aces folded and moved to Winnipeg. It was decided the team would take on the name of the former Winnipeg team in honor of the past. The current team is owned by Sam Katz, but he put the team into a blind trust when he became mayor of Winnipeg in 2004. The team plays at CanWest Global Park (seating capacity 7,481). The team is one of the winningest in the Northern League, missing the playoffs in 2004 for the first time since the team commenced operations.
