Winnipeg International Airport is located close to downtown Winnipeg, the provincial capital of Manitoba in central Canada.
The compact airport terminal building was constructed in the early 1960s, and despite renovations in recent decades an independent audit has determined that it is no longer sustainable for mid- to long-term use.
Therefore, the airport is embarking on the construction of a new terminal, located northeast of the current building, to be completed in 2009.
