Winston is a census-designated place located in Broadwater County, Montana. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 73.


Geography

Winston is located at 46°28'36" North, 111°39'32" West (46.476685, -111.658941)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.7 km² (3.4 mi²). 8.7 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 73 people, 27 households, and 18 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 8.4/km² (21.8/mi²). There are 30 housing units at an average density of 3.4/km² (8.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.89% White, 0.00% African American, 1.37% Native American, 1.37% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 27 households out of which 40.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.9% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% are non-families. 25.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.70 and the average family size is 3.44.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 30.1% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 26.0% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 82.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.1 males.

The Winston district, 20 miles west of Helena, is located on the northeast slopes of the Elkhorn Mountains, southwest of Winston.
