In 1998 he moved to the Kangaroos, winning the Mark of the Year in his first season, and played in their 1999 Premiership side. His last AFL game was in 2000, when he injured his knee badly in the opening round. He was one of the first players to undergo a modern knee reconstruction, yet it was unsuccessful. He remained on North's list until he was delisted at the end of the 2001 season, when it became obvious that he wouldn't be able to play again.
