Wolseley plc is a British company based in Droitwich formerly known for the manufacture of Wolseley motor cars. It is a regular member of the FTSE 100 and at the present time is ranked as one of the top 100 companies in the UK.


The car-making interests were sold off and the rights to the name now reside with the MG Rover Group. The company now is most recognisable for its ownership of Plumb Center, Builder Center and related builders' merchant stores, which form the division Wolseley UK formerly based in Ripon, North Yorkshire but recently relocated to Warwick.


Despite the spelling of the word 'Center', the company is British. The company's major spheres of operation are in Europe and North America.


The company was originally founded on the manufacture of sheep shearing equipment in the 1890s.
