Woodhouse ward is one of the 28 electoral wards in City of Sheffield, England. It is located in the southeastern part of the city. It covers an area of 7 square kilometres and includes the districts of Woodhouse and most of Handsworth. The population of this ward in 2001 was 17,900 people in 7,800 households. In the 2004 local elections Marjorie Barker, Michael (Mick) John Rooney, and Raymond Micheal Satur—all Labour Party candidates—were returned as councilors for the ward. South Yorkshire is a metropolitan county in England.
It was created as a metropolitan county in 1974 the southern part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, as a result of the Local Government Act 1972.
Although the county council was abolished, South Yorkshire still exists as a ceremonial county - there is a Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire and also a High Sheriff.
