Woolwich is a town located in Sagadahoc County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,810.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 107.9 km² (41.7 mi²). 90.8 km² (35.0 mi²) of it is land and 17.1 km² (6.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 15.85% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 2,810 people, 1,101 households, and 824 families residing in the town. The population density is 31.0/km² (80.2/mi²). There are 1,210 housing units at an average density of 13.3/km² (34.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.62% White, 0.36% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. 0.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,101 households out of which 32.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.9% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.1% are non-families. 19.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 2.92.
