World Series by Nissan is a racing series founded as "Open Fortuna by Nissan" in 1998 in Spain.


In 2005, the series was integrated with Eurocup Formula Renault V6, and became World Series by Renault(Formula Renault 3.5).


The name of the series was frequently renamed. And this series is called even by the name of Formula Nissan (Fórmula Nissan) or Nissan World Series, etc.

After seven years the series is being cancelled to make way for the Renault World Series, which will kick off on May 1 next year at Zolder before moving on to a race supporting the Monaco GP.
The series kicked off in 1998 under the name of Open Fortuna by Nissan and was won by Marc Gene, who went on to become a Minardi F1 driver.
