The anthropologist Thomas Huxley in On the Methods and Results of Ethnology (1865) defined the Xanthochroi race to be the indigenous peoples Rhine (Germany) to the Yenisei (Central Russia) latitudinally, and from the Ural mountains (Eastern Europe) to the Hindu Kush (nations directly north of India ) longitudinally. He included the peoples: Scandinavians, Germans, Slavonian and Finnish. He also included some of the peoples of Greece, Turks, Kirghis, Mantchous, Ossetes, Siahposh and Rohillas. He described them to have fair skin, yellow or red hair, blue eyes, long or broad heads. Huxley's concept was influential in the development of the theory of the Nordic race.
