During the first reign year of the Daoguang Emperor in 1821 she was granted the title of Quan pin (全嫔). Three years later in 1823 she was raised to a consort of the third rank Fei (全妃). In 1825 she gave birth to the emperor's third daughter, princess Tuan-Sun (端顺固伦公主), and two months later she was raised to a consort of the second rank Quan (全贵妃). One year later she gave birth to another daughter and in 1831 she gave birth to a son, Yizhu (the future emperor Xianfeng). Two years later after the death of the emperor's second empress "Xiao Zhen Cheng" in 1833 she was officially made empress with the title of Xiao Quan Cheng Huang Hou (孝全成皇后).
