YaST is free software, [1] (http://www.novell.com/news/press/archive/2004/suse_archive/yast.html) and Novell has made YaST available under GPL[2] (http://news.com.com/Novell+extends+open-source+push/2100-7344_3-5210336.html).
YaST2 is a fairly complete and competent tool for administering a SuSE installation. It allows you to install software, configure hardware, setup networks, and servers.

Although its license permits modification, creating the appearance of a free software license, redistribution is only allowed free of charge, only on ftp-servers and “mailboxes” (BBS systems), and only together with SuSE Linux.
Thus, YaST is generally not considered free software and is not found in any other Linux distribution.
