Yamato (Japanese: 大和市; -shi) is a city located in Kanagawa, Japan.


As of 2003, the ward has an estimated population of 218,999 and the density of 8,093.09 persons per km. The total area is 27.06 km.


History

The city was established as a village in 1891, promoted to a town in 1943, and promoted to a city on February 1, 1959.
