Yau Tsim Mong (油尖旺) is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It is located in the west of Kowloon. Population (2000): 295,700. Its name is the contraction of the first characters of three of its areas: Yau Ma Tei (油麻地), Tsim Sha Tsui (尖沙咀), and Mong Kok (旺角).


Yau Tsim Mong District was formally two districts: Yau Tsim District and Mong Kok District.

Transportation

Five rail lines serve this dictrict.


The area is served by the Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line, Tung Chung Line and the Airport Express of the MTR metro system, as well as by the KCR East Rail.

  • Tsuen Wan Line and Kwun Tong Line converge from the north at Prince Edward Station, then Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei where Kwun Tong Line terminates. Tsuen Wan Line continued to Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui stations before crossing the harbour to Hong Kong Island.
  • Tung Chung Line has two stations along the west coast: Kowloon near Jordan and Olympic near Tai Kok Tsui. The former station is also served by the Airport Express.
  • The KCRC has a station in Mong Kok, while its current terminus Hung Hom is on the boundary between Yau Tsim Mong and Kowloon City districts. An extension has been opened to East Tsim Sha Tsui station, with a sub-surface passenger walkway to MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station. All three KCRC stations in this district sees (and will see) some trains terminating.

Tsim Sha Tsui (Chinese: 尖沙嘴 or 尖沙咀; Cantonese Jyutping: zim1 sa1 zeoi2, Hanyu Pinyin: Jiānshāzǔi) or simply TST is an area in the Yau Tsim Mong District of southern Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Tsim Sha Tsui East is the reclaimed land of Hung Hom Bay, east of Tsim Sha Tsui.
The KCR East Rail was extended from Hung Hom to East Tsim Sha Tsui in late 2004.
