Yip Yip Yaphank was the name of musical revue composed and produced by Irving Berlin during World War I in 1917 while he was a recruit in the United States Army at Camp Upton in Yaphank, New York. The musical, as well as the fictionalized story of its production, was later featured in the 1943 motion picture This Is the Army.
Berlin composed the song "God Bless America" as part of the original production but decided against using it in the revue. The disinclusion of the song in the original production is part of the fictionalized story in This is the Army, in which George Murphy plays Jerry Jones, a fictionalized version of Berlin. Berlin also appears as himself in the movie, revealing the reality behind the fictionalized version.
