The YorkLions Club, in April 1972, organized and sponsored a new band for youth called the YorkLions Steel Band.
The YorkLions Steel Band is made up of approximately 30 teenagers who perform on various sizes of 45-gallon oil drums and is considered to be one of the best steel bands north of the Caribbean.
It has the distinct pleasure of carrying the City of York flag wherever it travels and is proud to be called "The Official Youth Band of the City of York".
