History

The road was laid out by early settlers in the region to divide the land into farms. Much of the farmland is now gone, as residential development expands in York Region towards the north. Environmentalist and urban planners want the region and province to halt the development of land north of the street, particularly to maintain the well-being of the Oak Ridges Moraine. The Oak Ridges Moraine is an ecologically sensitive geological landform in south central Ontario, Canada. ...

The road was named after Major Addison Alexander Mackenzie, a former local politician and World War I veteran.^[1]
