Born to Tameyoshi Minamoto in 1123, he sided with the Taira clan against the Minamotos during the Hogen Insurrection in which both sided with rival factions during a minor dispute within the Imperial family in 1156. Following the Tiara victory, Minamoto was ordered to murder his father. Refusing the Tiara's orders, he left their service however he was later defeated fighting the Tiara during the Heiji Affair in 1159. Although he was able to escape from the capitol, he was assassinated a year later by one of his retainers under the orders of Kiyomori Taira. Taira (平) is a Japanese surname. ...
