Lois hears about Brian on TV, then finds out that her parents don’t love each other. She changes her mind on gay marriage, deciding love is more important in marriage than whether it involves a man or woman. She returns to Quahog, and convinces Brian to free the mayor. Because the hostage situation has distracted the entire town from the Dig ’Em scandal, Mayor West drops the charges. It also helps that Brian gave West a key for a VW (which Stewie had found earlier in a candy jar). Jasper and Ricardo get married in the backyard of the Griffin house.
Censorship - In a cutaway featuring Noah, he says he’ll throw the misappropriated progeny of an elephant and a penguin “the fuck overboard.” This was bleeped on the FOX, BBC and Cartoon Network airings and on the censored track of the DVD version, but not on the uncut audio track on the DVD.

Notes - When people are protesting, Adam West uses his Political Diversions List, which reads: Outlaw Flag Burning, Use Escape Pod, Scapegoat the Jews, Suicide, Scapegoat the Blacks, Scapegoat the French, Scapegoat the Jews Again (Call them New Yorkers), Start a War, and Jingle Keys. He chooses “Jingle Keys.”
- Originally, after Peter asked Jasper if showering at the Y was like Supermarket Sweep, Lois tells Peter that he’s as tactless as the nerds who sat in front of them when Peter and Lois went to see Schindler’s List. The scene goes to a cutaway where a row of nerds are waiting for one of the actresses in the gas chamber scene to get naked (with the leader, chanting “We’ve got bush! We’ve got bush!”). This scene is shown in a collection of deleted scenes on the Family Guy Volume 4 DVD.
- In the collection of deleted scenes on the Family Guy Volume 4 DVD set, there is an extended version of the sequence where Lois consults a priest about her stance on gay marriage, where Lois tells the priest about how she used to have sex with women before she married Peter, after which a “boing” sound can be heard, suggesting that the priest gets an erection.
- The door of the Young Republicans club bears the name “Society of Arch-Republican Students (S.A.R.S.)” in reference to the infamous disease that spread throughout Southeast Asia in 2002 and 2003.
- Peter loves the brownies Jasper brings home from the "West Quahog" gay district, referring to the infamously gay West Hollywood, California, and he says they "pack so much fudge into these [brownies]," referring to the slang term fudge packer.
- The leader of the Young Republicans is addressed as Chancellor, a reference to Nazi Germany.
- Bill Clinton appears naked again, having previously appeared naked in the episode “E. Peterbus Unum.”
- Jasper’s fiancée Ricardo had appeared in the episode “Brian Does Hollywood.” Jasper explained in that episode that he doesn’t speak a word of English, and in this episode he doesn’t say a word.
- Brian tells Chris that he hasn’t “been with a girl” since three years prior to the destruction of the Challenger. However, in the episode “Brian Wallows and Peter's Swallows,” Brian dated Pearl Burton (the jingle singer who disappeared after her popularity plummeted when she tried become a legitimate singer), in the Peter's Got Woods episode, he dated Meg's teacher Shauna Parks, and in “Screwed the Pooch” he copulated with the female dog Seabreeze in the middle of the race track (even though the puppies she carried belonged to Ted Turner).
- This is one of the few episodes in which Stewie actually calls Peter by his name, instead of “the fat man.” This can be seen just before the clip of the Proclaimers.
- On August 5, 2007, this episode was the second of a four-episode set of Family Guy on FOX hosted by the stars of the upcoming film Superbad. This and two of the other episodes were also named “Worst TV Shows of the Week” by the Parents Television Council, a frequent critic of the show.[1]
- The Pewterschmidt's candy jar has licorice, a stick of Freedent gum, a Luden's cough drop, a fishing lure, an eyeglass lens, and a spare key for a Volkswagen Scirocco.
- Adam West swallowed these items: an inflatable raft, a People magazine, Stratego, and the anti-gay marriage bill he was going to sign.
- In a deleted scene, Ricardo is shown talking in Tagalog with Stewie.
- As Brian accompanies Jasper down the aisle at the wedding, there is a brief shot of the rest of the Griffins (minus Stewie, who is a groomsman), and, when Brian comes to sit, he sits in a seat that was, 3 seconds earlier, occupied by Chris, who's seat is now inexplicably unoccupied.

- When Lois realizes she’s been brainwashed by her parents, a cutaway shows Elizabeth Smart back with her family.
- When the priest shows the video about homosexuals to Lois, it says it was made by Pat Robertson Industries; this is a reference to Pat Robertson, an American evangelist who often speaks against gay rights (according to the DVD commentary, Fox Standards and Practices wanted Seth and company to add the “Pat Robertson Industries” line so Fox wouldn’t be accused of being against homosexuality).
