The Young Artist Award is an award which is presented yearly by the Young Artist Foundation. Started in 1981, it was envisioned specifically as an award to be presented to talented young people in television and movies when they might otherwise be overshadowed by their more seasoned costars. The artist is talented for sure but to produce an exact replica of a photograph is unadventurous and does not make any statement; I like to explore different interpretations of paintings and also like to look at the different textures artists achieve with paint.
Artists have always found ways to make life easier for themselves through using any medium available, this is an example of an artist using the camera to their advantage.
Just as the artist before the sitter controls the work’s input, the spectator before the canvas brings his own subjectivity to the interpretation of what is seen.
