A name attributed to a group of radical free thinkers emerging from Hindu College, Kolkata in the early 19th century. They were also known as Derozians, after their firebrand teacher at Hindu College, Henry Louis Vivian Derozio. Kolkata (Bengali: কলকাতা), formerly known as Calcutta, is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal, and once the most-populated city in India, although now overtaken by Mumbai (Bombay). ...

Bengal Cat Breed Information (824 words)
The Bengal cat is a relatively new breed of domestic housecat (felis catus) developed to have a gentle and friendly temperament, while exhibiting facial coloration patterns and body coat patterns (such as spots and rosettes) reminiscent of the wild Asian Leopard cat, felis bengalensis.
Bengals are medium sized cats - a male may weigh as much as 20 lb (9 kg), and a female commonly weighs 7 to 12 lb (4 to 6 kg.) Male cats are generally larger than females.
Bengal's tend to vocalize to communicate with their humans, and are quite capable of jealousy and spitefulness if they feel that another feline is getting more attention.
